User Guide
Harvest Hero is a Bullet Hell Rogue Lite.
You will start on this Main Menu screen:
On this screen you have a "Start Game" Button that takes you to the game with no tutorial or guide, use this if you want to learn on your own or have played before.
The "Tutorial" Button takes you to a tutorial that leads into the game, use this if you want to learn how to play!
The "Cog" Button takes you to a settings screen (these settings don't do anything yet).
The "Music Note" Button mutes the Main Menu music.
The "Question Mark" Button takes you to a little controls guide that also has a button for the tutorial, this is also accessible in game if you need a refresher on the controls.
The "Heart" Button takes you to a credits menu.
If you choose to do the tutorial you will start on this screen:
During this tutorial you can press ESC at any time to bring up the settings menu, this will allow you to exit to the Main Menu if needed.
Teemo will tell you what to do for this tutorial in the dialogue box at the bottom of the screen.
The Button next to the dialogue box is used to advance through the dialogue, use this at your own pace to read through the tutorial
The area you start in has nothing in it, everything is purely decoration.
You will be told to head to the right at a point during the tutorial and that is when you should cross the bridge on the right side of the area.
When you cross the bridge on your right this is where you will be:
This area has four enemies that will activate as you go through the tutorial.
The first that will activate is the Leek. He will shoot single shots at you after a random interval. It is intended you learn their attacks before you kill them but its up to you.
The second that will activate is the Carrot. He is going to stand still so you can see his attacks clearly. Same deal as the Leek, kill him when you have learnt his attack, or not.
The third that will activate is the Broccoli. He is also going to stand still. And the same deal applies.
The fourth that will activate is the Radish. He will charge at you, probably the most important to learn the attack of as some get confused by his attacks.
Be sure to advance through the tutorial text with the dialogue button to activate them.
After you have take these guys out they will drop drops for you to pickup and use in the next area.
You will be told to head to the right again once you have beaten all 4 enemies.
When you cross the bridge on the right again you will end up here:
This is the final area, the main thing here is the cooking station, this station has text that explains each component.
Like this:
The tutorial will ask you to cook a blank. This is done using 1 of any of the ingredients you collected from the enemies before.
If you mess up the recipe or run out of ingredients some how it is fine, you can proceed through the tutorial anyway.
Once you have finished you will be told to go to the boat on the right that will transport you to the real game.
When you finish the tutorial or press the start game button on the main menu you will end up here:
In this area the only thing you can interact with is the cooking station, the rest is purely decoration.
Open the menu by walking up to it.
The full cooking station UI looks like this:
The items on the left with the numbers are how many of each item you have.
The buttons on the top are how you add each ingredient to the pot, simply press the button to add 1 of that ingredient.
The recipes on the right show what the upgrades do and what ingredients they require.
The cook button is what you press to cook whatever you have added to the pot.
The empty pot button clears whatever you have in the pot if you have accidently added something you don't want,
The X button in the corner closes the menu, you can also just walk away to close the menu too.
You can also press ESC in this area to bring up this settings menu:
The Music Volume slider does nothing currently. Same for the button
The Sound Volume slider does nothing currently. Same for the button
The Save Game button is important, use this to save your items for next time!! (I didn't have the time to implement saving for the upgrades though, sorry)
Exit to Main Menu button does exactly that.
The Help Menu button takes you to this menu:
Now to play the game, you cross the bridge on the right, this will take you straight into the action.
The areas you fight in have a few different looks and can go in a few different directions.
Like this:
or this:
The enemies are random, the direction you have to go next is random, the decor is random.
The big Cabbage is simply there to block gates until you have killed all the enemies, he is harmless.
There is a mini-boss area that you also may encounter:
The Corn shoots popcorn up, you need to dodge it as it comes back down.
They have a lot of health so be ready for a fight!
The final area is this boss fight area:
This guy is actually a Decoy so if you want to see the real boss you have to shoot him first.
The boss has 3 phases
The bosses projectiles can be shot (you will need to shoot them if you want a chance at winning)
If you manage to beat the boss it will be pretty anti-climatic, i didn't have the time to add an ending. (sorry)
Some important mechanics:
Dodging - Press Space to dash, this gives you invulnerability to dash through projectiles
Blanks - Press Right Click after cooking at least one to clear all projectiles on screen
That is all! Good Luck!
Harvest Hero
In Harvest Hero your crops have gone rogue and it's up to you to harvest them before you become the harvest.
